MY ROOM.

My Room!
This is my room. I have spent a lot of time thinking about how it should be. And now I am resting in pure happiness every day. My room makes me happy. I have cards and paintings from friends. I have subway maps from NY and Taiwan on the walls. These places are meaningful to me. I am Taiwanese. New York has made a big impression on me. I got the big obnoxious tropical tree in July from Costco. I love it. It helps me feel connected to the natural world when I am inside. It is LIVING! In the bottom right, you see this rack of clothes. I built this myself from a keyboard stand.

Have you ever listened to Bossa Nova music? I think it is my world.

If You Find Yourself Caught in Love/Friends Gone

"If You Find Yourself Caught in Love" by Belle and Sebastian.

Here's a random video by people. I don't know them.

I think that this song will be the only song I will listen to for the rest of the year. It's way too beautiful. The beginning is like, oh, here's some random chill music. But then, gosh, it starts into this upbeat but nostalgic song. I absolutely love the harmonies during the lines "Another TV 'I Love 1999'" and the line "The only freedom that you'll ever really know is written in books from long ago." This song makes me want to sob my eyes out, just because of the way it sounds.

One of my best friends left for Taiwan yesterday. She is going to be there for almost a whole year. She's coming back next year in June! Yeah, so I'm bummed about that. She has a blog, which you can read HERE. I designed it for her. Blah blah blah.

So I got my schedule for this school year. And I don't have a lot of classes with my good friends. I only have a few though, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Last year was the best though. I had classes with the same people for every period, but I really liked those people. So it was all good. Now they're splitting everyone up and it sucks. I honestly have social terrors, with meeting new people and all. Also, I'm taking advanced science, so I'll probably be with a bunch of upperclassmen. This is all taking me back to middle school. I had to take math with people who were always a grade above me, and it was the worst thing ever. I never had any friends in my math class. I swear I have no social skills with people who already have established friends.

I AM A PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVE PRICK.

Photobucket

What is wrong with me? I have been best friends with the girl I wrote this to on Facebook for 11 years. She is like my sister. Just because she's been to camp and gone for the whole summer, I am mad at her. It wasn't even her fault. And I'm still mad. She's gone right now, so I'm going to delete this before she comes back. I am a bitch. Sorry.

Albums I Love: White Lies & Bright Eyes

Have you guys ever heard of WHITE LIES? They are a British band. They were featured in Nylon Magazine's annual music issue, though I don't really care about that. In fact, it kinda turns me off. Regardless, they are a quality band. Their 10-track debut album, To Lose My Life, is cathartic. Also, WATCH THEIR VIDEO PODCASTS, especially the "White Lies Short Film." It is beautiful.

Best Tracks: Death, To Lose My Life, A Place to Hide, Unfinished Business (I definitely cried to this track), From the Stars, The Price of Love.

Secondly, I'm sure the whole world has heard of BRIGHT EYES. They are an American band. All of their albums vary in style, and the only thing that remains constant are Conor Oberst's emotional lyrics and INSANELY emotional voice. I am a fan of many of their albums. Right now, though, my favorite is Cassadaga. This album is, in my opinion, a summer road trip. Not even a soundtrack to one. It IS the trip. I was riding a train to Chicago and I listened to Four Winds, and it was just so perfect. The album, for the first half, is Americana. Then the second part, starting with Cleanse Song, expands. Lime Tree and Coat Check Dream Song are sprawling complete dream worlds. They are INSANE. I don't know how to describe them. They are trances. Anyways. This album is BEAUTIFUL. I want to move to the desert because of this album.
